What happens inside your belt, now you can see it

One hour of stopped conveyor costs more than the whole system. DMC technology replaces reactive inspection with continuous monitoring, running 3D scanning, X-ray and laser 24 hours a day.

Detect it before it tears

The conveyor belt is a strategic asset for any mining company, port, steel mill or cement plant. Monitored continuously, an anomaly shows up while it is still early, and maintenance stops being corrective.

Shop Engenharia is the official DMC Technology representative in Brazil. We bring to the country the belt inspection systems already running in mines, ports and steel mills across several countries.

Every reading is stored with a date and time stamp in the plant's history. That is information you can plan a shutdown around.

Two 3D rip detection systems
going into a mine in Brazil.

On September 8 the DMC installation team started mounting two 3D belt rip monitoring systems on two conveyor belts at an open-pit mine in Brazil. The job was expected to take three days.

In the article, DMC thanks the mine team for support with site access, equipment logistics and installation arrangements.

The two systems will let the mine monitor belt damage in real time and reduce the risk of unexpected conveyor belt failures.

3D longitudinal rip scanning

Continuous 3D laser scanning of the belt surface. It projects a light pattern onto the belt and calculates the coordinate of each point, building a live 3D point cloud. It detects longitudinal rips and surface damage before they become catastrophic failure, and records the full history for traceability.

Fixed X-ray

Permanent installation beside the conveyor. It X-rays the belt's internal structure without stopping the operation, and the software identifies steel cord fractures, core rubber damage, non-standard splices, punctures, rust and factory defects.

Mobile X-ray

The same inspection as the fixed model in a set 50% smaller and 33% lighter, which the crew takes to different points of the plant with no civil works. Suited to operations with several conveying lines.

Handheld X-ray scanner

Operated by one person with the belt stopped. It verifies vulcanised splice quality and confirms in the field a damage the fixed or mobile system flagged. Sends the image to a phone over bluetooth.

Belt speed and positioning

It tracks belt speed and position in real time and talks to the conveyor's control system. It stops the belt at the exact maintenance point using passive radio-frequency tags, installed without cabling.

The technology
in operation.

Where the monitoring
already runs.

Mining

Long-distance belts carrying raw and processed ore, in abrasive environments and continuous duty.

Ports

Port terminals and dry bulk handling, with short maintenance windows.

Steel

Continuous transport of raw material and coke, under heat and load that punish the carcass.

Cement plants

Aggregates and clinker in continuous duty, where a stopped belt stops the kiln with it.

Agribusiness

High-volume grain and fertiliser, with harvest peaks that leave no room for corrective work.

What changes
in your plant.

Less unplanned downtime

Early detection keeps a two-millimetre rip from stopping the whole production line.

Fewer false alarms

AI processing cuts unnecessary alarms by up to 90% compared with traditional visual inspection.

Better safety

Crews spend less time on manual inspection in hazardous areas around the conveyor.

Decisions on data

A complete digital history of every inspection, to plan maintenance precisely.
